Hereford's Green Dragon Hotel Put Up For Sale

One of Hereford’s most prominent historic landmarks, the Green Dragon Hotel, has been put up for sale following an extensive multi-year refurbishment and business development project.
The 83-bedroom hotel on Broad Street, which traces its history back over 900 years, was acquired in 2018 by a consortium made up predominantly of local investors. The group bought the site with the clear objective of restoring the historic building, improving its accommodation and facilities, and re-establishing the venue at the heart of Hereford’s hospitality and business community.
Following significant capital investment in its bedrooms, food and beverage offerings, and event spaces, the hotel has now been brought to market as a going concern through joint agents Graham + Sibbald and Christie & Co. The property offers potential for an incoming hotel operator, private investor, or hospitality group to further expand the established trade.
Managing director Julian Vaughan described the project as a "hugely rewarding" experience for the team behind the venue. Mr Vaughan said: "We have invested significantly in the property and, just as importantly, in rebuilding and developing the business. It has been a genuine transformation, and I am incredibly proud of what the team and our investors have achieved.
"We feel we have achieved what we set out to do in restoring the Green Dragon and demonstrating the potential of the business, and we believe the time is right for a new owner to take it forward into its next chapter."
Management has emphasized that the hotel will remain open and operate as normal throughout the marketing and sales process, with no disruption expected for staff, suppliers, or guests.
Mr Vaughan added: "It is particularly important to us that the business continues to operate as normal throughout the sale process. The Green Dragon has an established team, loyal customers and an active trading business, and there is every intention that this continues uninterrupted."
Speaking on behalf of the marketing agents, Martin Davis of Graham + Sibbald highlighted the venue as a "distinctive hospitality opportunity", while Jeremy Jones of Christie & Co noted that the owner group successfully preserved the landmark's rich heritage while creating a contemporary, commercially sustainable business.
