Studio Rules
🎙️ Hereford Hospital Radio — Studio Rules
Welcome to the studio! Our station relies on every volunteer to keep us on air, serving the patients, staff, and community of Hereford. Please follow these rules to maintain a safe, professional, and enjoyable environment.
1. 🎧 Station Mindset & On-Air Standards
- Patient First: Remember our core listener base. Keep talk content uplifting, accessible, and respectful. Avoid controversial topics, vulgar language, or graphic news.
- Confidentiality: Patient privacy is non-negotiable. Never mention patient full names, bed numbers, conditions, or specific ward details on air or on social media without explicit permission.
- Punctuality: Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled show to set up and hand over smoothly. If you are going to be late or miss a show, notify the Broadcast Manager as early as possible.
2. 🎛️ Studio Equipment & Technology
- Treat Gear with Care: Handle microphones, mixers, headphones, and PCs gently. Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment immediately via the Studio Fault Log.
- Leave Settings Intact: Do not reconfigure wiring, software settings, or soundboard routings without authorization from the Engineering team.
- Auto-Assisted/Automation: Always ensure the automation system (e.g., Myriad / Playout software) is properly engaged before handing off or locking up. Never leave the station in silence.
3. 🚫 Food, Drink & Cleanliness
- No Open Liquids: Drinks are strictly prohibited near the mixing desk and computers. Sealed containers or sports bottles may be kept on floor level away from electronics.
- No Hot/Messy Food: To keep equipment clean and odor-free, do not eat meals inside the studio control room.
- Leave It Cleaner Than You Found It: Clear away all notes, trash, and personal items after your show. Wipe down headphones and microphones with provided sanitizer wipes.
4. 🚪 Health, Safety & Access
- Security: Keep studio doors secure. Do not allow unauthorized guests into the studio without prior approval from a committee member.
- Emergency Procedures: Familiarize yourself with Hereford County Hospital’s fire exit routes and emergency alarms.
- Studio Guests: All guests must be signed in (if required by hospital policy) and briefed on basic studio rules before going live.
